ART 40 2-D FOUNDATIONS 3 Units 1.5 hours lecture 4.5 hours lab Transfers: CSU, UC Introduction to the concepts, applications, and processes of two-dimensional art through historical and contemporary contexts. An exploration of the basic elements of composition: line, shape, texture, value, color and spatial illusion. Application of those elements using the principles of design: balance, unity, rhythm, pattern & contrast. Development of visual vocabulary and individual aesthetic through lecture presentations, studio projects, problem solving, written assignments and research.
