CDE 101 PRINCIPLES AND PRACTICES OF TEACHING YOUNG CHILDREN 3 Units 3 hours lecture Transfers: CSU Recommended Preparation: CDE 7 or CDE 7H, and eligibility for ENG 1A or ENG 1AH Historical context and theoretical perspectives of developmentally appropriate practice in early care and education including early primary education. Examines the role of the early childhood educator, identifies best practices for environmental design, curriculum, and teaching strategies. Explores teacher child relationships, professional ethics, career pathways, and professional standards.
