CDE 101 PRINCIPLES AND PRACTICES OF TEACHING YOUNG CHILDREN 3 Units 3 hours lecture Transfers: CSU Prerequisite: CDE 7 and CDE 101 Recommended Preparation: CDE 7 or CDE 7H, and eligibility for ENG 1A or ENG 1AH Developmentally appropriate curriculum and environments for children birth through age eight. Students will use knowledge of children’s development, theories of learning and development, and examples from various models of developmentally appropriate practice to plan environments and curriculum in all content areas to support children’s development and learning integrated throughout indoor and outdoor settings. Requires a minimum of 49.8 hours lab in an approved setting. Supervising teacher must be eligible for a CA Master Teacher Permit. DS3, CAP Aligned.
